I’m not sure if this is a salt or pepper shaker. But it reflects the contrarianism of post Ike life on the Gulf Coast. You look around and everything seems normal – there’s virbrant colors and bits of new growth. Yet all that is contrasted with the starkness of the destruction around the Galveston Bay Area.

It took me a while to find some dishes I am happy with. World Market has some really nice whiteware that I love. And the good thing is that I can find things from other companies that will work with what I have. Which brings me to my favorite things that I use on almost a daily basis. My sugar bowl and my cream pitcher.

I love how they look and how they feel in my hand. The best part is using the porcelain spoon to put sugar into my coffee. Although R making fun of me for using the cream pitcher to put cream in my coffee just might be a close second.

The good thing about this time of year is that there are office supplies to be had at very low prices.
Right before Christmas, I was at Office Depot when I found the Sharpie Retractable Ultra Fine Permanent Markers Assorted Colors 8 Pack (1742025)
for three bucks. You can bet your bippy I snatched those bad boys right up. The other thing I noticed is they had a display full of various types of sharpies in a wide variety of colors and tips. I feel sharpie indulgence coming on in the new year.
The next round of office supplies came from CVS Pharmacy. Right now CVS is having their 50% off sale on CVS Brand products (thru Jan 3, 2009), so I was able to pick up some inexpensive 4×6 pastel notebooks. These are just the right size to fit into your purse and I plan to make good use of them One will become my To-Do List, another will be my price book for couponing (I love sales and couponing!), another will become my bucket list, and the last one will be my idea book. And at 99 cents for the everyday price, these are a great bargin.
The last set of notebooks I got are for my photography biz. I just want a simple system to keep track of everything that I do related to my photography work so I picked up these two notebooks. The small one is for client information and the big one is more of a planning notebook. They are part of the Kendall Collection and part of the proceeds from the sale is going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The last couple of office supplies recently purchased are DVD Mailers and 3 column accounting books. Boring stuff and not really work taking pictures of.

I’ve been living up to my office supply whore moniker the past few weeks. I’ve gotten several new things for my office that are fun and satisify that office supply need.
The big purchase was the Canon MP980 Wireless All-in-One Photo Printer, 2922B002
. I got this bad boy because I’m getting ready to sell my photographs on Etsy and I needed something that did a decent job of printing up to 8×10. Plus I love the fact that I can print wirelessly (once I figure out how to set up a wireless network in my house). I’d really like to get the number of wires I have on my desk down a bit. I’ve done a few practice prints so far with it, and I love the quality of the pictures.
The next purchase was some more Jonathan Adler stuff from Barnes and Noble. This time it was the Flowers file folder set. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I love the retro style of Adler’s designs. And it just happens to work well in my apartment.
While I normally wouldn’t spend this kind of money on just file folders, I am working on some projects and I want something fun on my desk to keep me motivated and wanting to open the folders to see what’s inside and remind me of the next steps I have to take.
For Christmas, R got me Adobe Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements 7
. I’ve had the 4.0 version of the Photoshop Elements for about 3 years so I was ready for an upgrade. This is going to help with my photography site(I’m not one to do much manipulation with photograpsh), my etsy site and with the Pig E. Bank site since we’re doing both photography and video on the site.
I have a few more things that I purchased, but I’m going to have to take some pictures before I post them.
